This six-week workshop is designed especially for the pregnant practitioner. You will learn breathing and focusing techniques that will help you to relax during pregnancy and childbirth. You will practice postures that will help to:

• Create more opening in the hips and abdominal region, which will help make space for your baby;
• Alleviate tension in the back, neck and shoulders;
• Create more openness in the chest; and
• Increase circulation to help prevent swelling in the feet and ankles.

As your body changes with pregnancy, so will your yoga practice. We will modify poses based on which trimester you are in and how your are feeling. Most importantly, this class will honor your mother's intuition, reinforce your body awareness and improve your ability to practice self care during pregnancy and into motherhood. This class is also appropriate for post natal students.

Beginners' Yoga Workshop with Gen MacKenzie Sat, Nov 15, 2014 at 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Everybody can do yoga! Our popular Beginners’ Yoga Workshop is specifically tailored for beginning yoga students, and is a wonderful opportunity to get individualized attention and explore and understand the system of yoga.

The workshop will include a 30-minute discussion about the history of yoga, the various styles of yoga, and both the physical and mental benefits of a yoga practice. The remainder of the workshop will focus on a breakdown of the basic postures of yoga with attention to alignment and options for modifications of poses. Included in this segment is an introduction to meditation and discussion of its purpose in a yoga class.

The $65 fee includes the workshop and a one-month introductory unlimited class pass for first-time YogaBalance students. Register before Saturday, November 8, and pay just $60!

Restorative Yoga is the perfect antidote to the stress of modern life. It is the art of active relaxation; a refuge from our busy lives and an opportunity to slow down, let go and create ease. 
In Restorative Yoga, we practice postures supported by blocks, blankets, bolsters and other props, which allow the body to gently and passively stretch and open. Following the physical practice, we will enjoy an extended relaxation, which will include simple visualization and meditation techniques to bring you to a state of emotional and mental peace. You will leave this workshop feeling calm, refreshed, renewed and restored.
