This six-week workshop is designed especially for the pregnant practitioner. You will learn breathing and focusing techniques that will help you to relax during pregnancy and childbirth. You will practice postures that will help to:

• Create more opening in the hips and abdominal region, which will help make space for your baby;
• Alleviate tension in the back, neck and shoulders;
• Create more openness in the chest; and
• Increase circulation to help prevent swelling in the feet and ankles.

As your body changes with pregnancy, so will your yoga practice. We will modify poses based on which trimester you are in and how your are feeling. Most importantly, this class will honor your mother's intuition, reinforce your body awareness and improve your ability to practice self care during pregnancy and into motherhood. This class is also appropriate for post natal students.

Beginners' Yoga Workshop with Gen MacKenzie Sat, Jan 24, 2015 at 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Everybody can do yoga! Our popular Beginners’ Yoga Workshop is specifically tailored for beginning yoga students, and is a wonderful opportunity to get individualized attention and explore and understand the system of yoga.

The workshop will include a 30-minute discussion about the history of yoga, the various styles of yoga, and both the physical and mental benefits of a yoga practice. The remainder of the workshop will focus on a breakdown of the basic postures of yoga with attention to alignment and options for modifications of poses. Included in this segment is an introduction to meditation and discussion of its purpose in a yoga class.
 
The $65 fee includes the workshop and a one-month introductory unlimited class pass for first-time YogaBalance students. Register before Saturday, January 17 and pay just $60!

Family yoga is a wonderful opportunity for parents and kids to practice together! This workshop is a great way to combine physical exercise, partner poses, kid-approved yoga poses, breath work, and relaxation, mixed in with a healthy dose of family togetherness.

Accommodations and variations will be offered to make sure that everyone has fun. Join us for a playful way to spend quality time with your family.

$20 per 1 adult and 1 child couple. Sign up before January 24 and pay just $15. Upon registration, we will contact you for the name and age of your child.

Yin Yoga is a nourishing practice that focusing on slowing down and “allowing”. Most Yoga practices are a balance of Yin and Yang energy – heating, invigorating and active work complemented with cooling, calming and resting. Similar to Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga focuses on the more calming or “Yin” element of the practice. Yin Yoga focuses on releasing the deeper soft tissues of body; our ligaments, joints, fascia, and bones and places a particular emphasis on the areas of the hips, pelvis and lower spine. In Yin Yoga, we hold postures for longer periods of time to allow a gentle release within in the body, a return to the breath, the cultivation of mindfulness and the opportunity to truly experience the present moment.
