Creating Mandalas for Relaxation and Self Expression with Kathryn Costa . Sat, Apr 8, 2017 at 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

This workshop will be a fun opportunity to channel your inner artist! The workshop begins with an introduction to mandalas: the origins of the mandala; where mandalas show up in various cultures and in nature; and how mandalas are used as a practice for relaxation and self-expression. After centering with a short Gentle Yoga practice, we will learn how to construct a symmetrical grid as a basis for our designs, which we will then embellish and flesh out to create beautiful individual mandalas. We will finish with a closing ceremony to witness and honor everyone’s work.

No art or yoga experience required. Beginners are encouraged to attend. All materials and supplies are provided. Fee: $45 per person; $40 before April 1.

We will explore pregnancy-specific yoga postures, flows, modifications and variations that will help you find more comfort as your baby grows and your body changes. We will practice various breathing and relaxation techniques to help you stay calm and at ease during your pregnancy and during childbirth. We will create a supportive community and nurturing environment in which you will feel pampered, nourished and rejuvenated.

This workshop will be a dance-inspired Vinyasa practice. Through creative postures, we will explore movement within stillness; subtle pulsations of breath and movement; releasing muscles and joints in order to find more length and possibilities; and letting go and softening to move forward. This work will allow for more freedom in the body, new-found sensations and awareness, and improved mobility.
