We will explore pregnancy-specific yoga postures, flows, modifications and variations that will help you find more comfort as your baby grows and your body changes. We will practice various breathing and relaxation techniques to help you stay calm and at ease during your pregnancy and during childbirth. We will create a supportive community and nurturing environment in which you will feel pampered, nourished and rejuvenated.

Perfect for beginners or experienced students who want a slower paced, less strenuous class, in this class, we will focus on stretching postures, gentle flows and breathing techniques that release stress, reduce tension and promote relaxation. We will finish with an optional 10-15 meditation for those who are interested or enjoy a deliciously long and luxurious Savasana! Absolutely no Yoga or Meditation experience is required.

Everybody can do yoga! Our popular Beginners’ Yoga Workshop is specifically tailored for complete Beginners and is a wonderful, non-intimidating way to start your practice!

The workshop will include a 30-minute discussion about the history of yoga, the various styles of yoga, and both the physical and mental benefits of a yoga practice. The remainder of the workshop will focus on a breakdown of the basic postures of yoga with attention to alignment and options for modifications of poses as well as an introduction to meditation.

$30 fee per person. Register before Saturday, September 10, and pay just $25! Mats and props will be provided, but participants can take advantage of a 20% discount on YogaBalance yoga mats on the day of the workshop.

Body in Balance: Strong & Supple Shoulders with Michelle Dalbec . Sat, Sep 24, 2016 at 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Do your shoulders have you in a slump? Are they dragging you down? Have they become a pain in your neck? Many of our modern day habits and postures have lead us to limited mobility and weakness in the shoulders, pain in the neck, tension in the chest and upper back, compromised breath, and altered spinal alignment.

This workshop starts with a deep release of the shoulder, upper back, and chest area with targeted self-massage using specially designed soft pliable therapy balls. From there we continue with a series of creative corrective movements that stretch, strengthen, and balance the shoulders from the inside out. Balls provided to borrow; if you have previously attended a Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Ball workshop with Michelle and have a set of Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls, you are welcome to bring them and use them during this workshop.

This 20-hour immersion weekend will prepare you to work with the special needs of Prenatal Yoga students, and certify you to design and teach a safe Prenatal Yoga class.
 
The workshop will include sections on:
• The anatomy and physiology of pregnancy
• Yoga’s view of the pregnant body and how this model differs from the western medical model
• Historical practices in birth and how those practices have affected the birth process.
• Myths surrounding Prenatal Yoga: which postures are truly contraindicated and why?
• Appropriate postures for a Prenatal Yoga class
• Modifications for different stages in pregnancy
• Yoga solutions to common pregnancy aches and pains
• Meditation for both pregnancy and birth
• Pranayama for a Prenatal practice
• Yoga practices for childbirth preparation
• Prenatal class components and sequencing, including discussion of how to conduct “circle time” and foster community through open communication in class
• Student teaching opportunities
• Immediate Postnatal Yoga considerations and steps for re-introducing mom back to practice
 
All students will receive a training manual containing the above components as well as suggested Prenatal sequences for class development.
 
Price: $350 until June 14, $375 until August 14, $400 thereafter.
